Title:

Terror and Wave Book One: Chronicles of Tenek lua Ben

Word Count:

75,000+

Short Summary:

Tamarin and Adden are as different as can be. For Tamarin, sticking out and making waves on their island home is the last thing she wants. Her foreign features have already marked her an outcast in Tenek lua Ben, and she’d rather stick to the solace of trees or the safety of her father’s shadow.

Adden has never met a challenge he wasn’t up for. Full of mischief and surrounded by more siblings than he can stand, Adden aches for adventure and hopes to find a friend in the mysterious, golden-eyed girl of his village.

The two opposites are thrust together when a foolhardy bet goes awry, forging an unlikely bond. With an island full of mysteries to unlock and creatures to explore, their friendship deepens, weaving a beautiful tapestry that binds them through every hardship and grief.

But the world outside of Tenek is fraught with danger, and a dark secret threatens to unravel everything.

Long Description

The island of Ku lua Pele is an ancient place. A dark mountain with even darker secrets rests at its center, consuming children stolen from their homes in the dead of night. For some, tales of Ku Lua Pele are nothing more than myths told to wayward children and gullible men. For those who’ve witnessed its horrors, it is an island of death. For the dark Empress who rules there, it is home.

For Tamarin and Adden, Ku lua Pele is not even a story. Their isolated island home is far removed from the outside world, a fact that suits most of the green-eyed folk who live there just fine. But for one lonely, golden-eyed girl, it is an isolating truth.

Tamarin was born an outcast. Her timid nature is a stark contrast to the dark skin, golden eyes, and fiery red hair that make her stand out in her village. Marked by the foreign features of her mother, and the ancient blood running through her veins, her days are spent hiding in trees or helping her father in the infirmary.

Adden is a willful boy, carefree and prone to mischief. Inexplicably drawn to the brilliant, golden-eyed girl of his village, his days are spent looking for ways to impress her. A foolish stunt leaves Adden with a gash on his head and Tamarin with an incorrigible patient. Though they’re as different as night and day, the two form an inseparable bond.

Mishap and adventure shape their days on Tenek lua Ben, and when the foreigner Galb arrives on their shores with his crew, Tamarin and Adden are drawn to a world beyond Tenek. Tales of her mother’s homeland set Tamarin’s heart ablaze, as she craves a connection with the mother she never knew. Adden longs for a life at sea, full of sailing and discovery.

But the stories of Ku lua Pele are more than myth, and for a bloodthirsty Empress hunting a golden-eyed race, no place is too far. Oblivious to the dangers of the outside world, neither Tamarin nor Adden could predict the perils awaiting them.
